Giovanni Rasio
Giovanni Rasio is the Research Lead at Shephard Group, overseeing the Research Team and leading special projects. Previously, he served as Senior Naval Analyst in Shephard’s Defence Insight division.
A defence analyst with expertise in market intelligence, military procurement, and emerging technologies, Giovanni specializes in strategic foresight and naval platforms. In 2024, he was nominated for the Best Defence Data Analytics category at the Defence Media Awards.
He holds an MA in National Security Studies from King’s College London and a BA in International Development and Cooperation from the University of Bologna, with academic experiences in Lithuania and Argentina.

Gordon Arthur
Gordon Arthur was the Asia Pacific editor for Shephard Media. Born in Scotland and educated in New Zealand, Gordon had a stint of nearly 20 years in the territory of Hong Kong before returning to NZ.
His work has appeared in nearly 40 international defence journals and magazines to date. His focus is primarily on Asia-Pacific countries, and he travels extensively in the region to attend defence shows and observe military exercises.

Ian Parker
Ian Parker became an aerospace and defence journalist in 1980 on Flight International and started powered flying, after having flown gliders with the Air Cadets and at Loughborough University, where he studied aerospace and ergonomics.
In 1985, Ian joined Shephard to launch Space magazine and later Aerospace Composites & Materials. He also edited Helicopter World and Defence Helicopter for Shephard.
In 1998, he joined Phillips Publishing as European editor for a number of aerospace titles, before going freelance in 2001.
Ian now writes for several titles on aerospace, defence and engineering. In the late 1990s, he became a CAA class rating instructor on the Yak18T and 52 for Richard Goode Aerobatics. Now, he flies a 1952 ex-Air Cadet T-21 glider, the first type he flew in 1971.

İlker Aktaşoğlu
İlker brings over 15 years of expertise in the defence sector to his role as Head of Business Information at Shephard Group. Before joining Shephard, he had a distinguished career as an officer in the Turkish Armed Forces.
His international experience includes missions in Iraq and Washington, D.C., with assignments at the Pentagon and working closely with the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which oversees the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process.
He served as the Land Forces air defence liaison officer at the Combined Air Operations Centre in Turkey, commanded an air defence missile platoon, led an operational commando company and held active operational leadership roles in Iraq. İlker graduated as the top-ranking officer from the Turkish Air Defence School, highlighting his early aptitude and leadership.
He holds an MA in International Relations from the War Studies Department at King’s College London and a BSc in Systems Engineering from the Turkish Military Academy. With his extensive military background and strategic expertise, İlker leads Shephard’s Business Information division, providing tailored, transparent data solutions that empower clients in the defence industry to make informed decisions.

João Bordon is a Brazil-based independent analyst covering the Aerospace, Defence and Space (ADS) industry. He previously served as Trade Commissioner of Finland in Sao Paulo and as Chairman of the Committee on Defense and Security of the Finnish-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FinnCham Brazil). In 2022, he completed the inaugural internship for Foreign Military Attachés and Diplomats at Brazil’s Ministry of Defense (MoD).
