Volz releases DA 26-D actuator for UAVs
Volz Servos announced the release of its DA 26-D fully redundant actuator for high-demand UAV applications on 23 April.
The DA 26-D has a two-channel redundant design for continuous operation if one of the two channels fails. The electric motors, control and communication electronics, power supply and other major components are available twice.
In addition, the position sensor features a three-channel design and several sensors are integrated to provide diagnostic information such as current consumption, supply voltage levels and temperature readings. The actuator has microcontrollers that continuously diagnose its major components, and it has a redundant RS485 interface where users can read its health status.
Phillipp Volz, CEO, Volz Servos, said: 'Our customers have been demanding a redundant actuator solution to protect air vehicle and payload assets of their UAVs.
'Our DA26-D actuator provides an advanced redundant actuator solution that is not found in the market today.'
Mark Juhrig, CTO, Volz Servos, said: 'We listened to our customers' needs and have developed a solution that can be tailored to the application.
'The solution can be customised to the application to meet various control and monitoring strategies.'
