USN experiments with 3D-printed UAVs

The US Navy (USN) used a 3D printer to construct key components for a UAV aboard the amphibious warfare ship USS Essex.

In a project conducted by students of the Naval Postgraduate School last December, a customised UAV was created to carry a transmitter and camera able to send imagery back to the ship for a counter-piracy or anti-smuggling scenario.
