USCG rule out UAS lease arrangements

The US Coast Guard has ruled out out the option of commercial service leases for unmanned air systems to meet short term operational requirements.

USCG assistant commandant for acquisition RADM Gary Blore says that lease or contracting of UAS services remain outside the USCG model for development of capability, as does drawing upon financial vehicles such as the US National Pollution Fund – set up by the oil industry in the wake of the Exxon Valdez tanker disaster.
