US Coast Guard ultimately selects ScanEagle for cutters

The US Coast Guard (USCG) has finally announced that the Insitu ScanEagle will be used to fulfil the small UAS requirement for its National Security Cutters.

Announced on 7 June the installations of sUAS capability on NSCs are planned at a rate of about two per year. Total value of the contract including the seven option years is approximately $117 million.

The USCG will be using a contractor-owned contractor-operated (COCO) procurement strategy. Insitu has been working on the programme for nine years, awaiting a final contract.
