US Army to reach RQ-7B Shadow downselect decision shortly

The US Army is due to downselect three unmanned systems and issue associated testing contracts for its RQ-7B Shadow tactical UAS (pictured) replacement programme before the end of March 2019, Shephard can confirm.

Despite a spokesperson for the US Army’s aviation programme office saying that the service ‘can’t disclose any details of the source selection process,’ the target date disclosure is a firm indication of intent, with the programme milestone to be followed directly by US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) units, carrying out demonstration and testing activities of the chosen systems.
