Unmanned tech to patrol DMZ

With the Korean Peninsula divided in two by the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), soldiers on both sides patrol and monitor the border area. Hanwha Techwin, formerly Samsung Techwin, believe unmanned systems offer an ideal solution for the South Korean side.

At the Seoul ADEX show, running from 20-25 October, the company showcased two UGV's with the smaller 4x4 vehicle christened the Star-M3 Multipurpose Mobile Robot Platform, while the interestingly acronymed Star-M4 Unmanned System for Surveillance and Reconnaissance (USSR) is larger in size.

The former weighs 250kg and measures 1.96m long, while the M4 weighs 350kg and measures 2.3m long. The USSR
