Unmanned Systems 2018: Pentagon looks to up its ‘power and energy’ game

The US military needs industry’s help when it comes to more efficiently powering its unmanned systems. Thus, in a bid to quickly link the services with available options, the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx) may add two more key areas to its portfolio list.

DIUx, a Pentagon organisation, strives to cut through acquisition red tape and quickly field commercial technologies to the services. Currently, the organisation has five portfolios — autonomy, AI, IT, space and human systems — but is looking to add power and energy to that list.
