Universal UAV breezes flight tests

The Universal UAV programme by Schweitzer Ingenieurgesellschaft performed its first test flights late last year, which are scheduled to continue in 2016.

Conducted under heavy skies and strong winds at an unnamed site in Germany the Universal UAV is designed to be capable of performance a range of surveillance and reconnaissance roles, including homeland security and infrastructure monitoring.

The UAV has an endurance of 10 hours at a maximum speed of up to 140kts. The typical operational altitude is from 1,000-20,000 ft.
