UIMC details future UAS family
United Instrument Manufacturing (UIMC), a part of Rostec, plans to create a family of multi-functional unmanned aerial systems (UAS) with reconnaissance, observation and attack capabilities, Rostec announced on 10 February.
A number of products in the complex have been presented for the first time at the Robotics of the Russian Armed Forces exhibition.
The systems will be capable of defeating targets on the battlefield, delivering goods to a specified point, transmitting video in real time, recording video and still images, and observing distant objects. The systems will be able to act independently as well as part of a unit.
The UAS on which the family of UAS is based has a flight range of a few hundred kilometers. The reconnaissance copter will be able to fly to an altitude of several thousand metres to detect and identify targets in real time.
The observational copter will be designed to adjust artillery fire and determine the location coordinates using the signals of GLONASS/GPS satellite navigation systems. The attack multicopter will detect and destroy enemy targets, including tanks and armoured vehicles, with the help of standard rocket weapons.
