Themis unveils new platform agnostic UAV instruction method
Themis has recently completed the training and qualifying of internal pilots for an undisclosed Asian customer. The course that provided the trainees with all the tools necessary in order to safely operate a tactical UAV was the first step in Themis complete UAV training and instruction curriculum.
Over the last 3 years Themis has been developing a revolutionary training and instruction approach that perceives the operating of UAVs as a core profession. Based on this assumption Themis trains and instructs all UAV crew members, from IPs to maintenance staff, in a platform agnostic approach, converting them to the final platform only at the end of the curriculum.
"Because we don't dedicate the training to a specific platform we allow the crews to easily adapt to new platforms and technologies," says Amit Noam, Themis VP for Instruction and Operations," we believe that a platform agnostic training approach will be the basis of the international regulation and certification standard, and we're preparing our customers to fit the standard from the first day."
According to Noam, the recent course engulfed only the first building block of the training, and additional instruction is expected to occur during 2011.
