Jammer resistant drone designs spark search for countermeasures
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has driven another stage of evolution for drones and the counter measures to defend against them.
Teledyne Marine and Research Products Development Company (RPDC) have signed an agreement to collaborate on the commercialisation of new technologies developed within Saudi Arabia for the offshore oil industry.
A development contract has been awarded under the agreement, which covers the integration of a sensor developed by Saudi Aramco into Teledyne's ROV for shallow water pipeline inspection monitoring.
The integrated sensor can perform both ultrasonic thickness readings and cathodic protection voltage measurements at a single touchdown reducing inspection costs for shallow water pipelines, minimising inspection safety hazards and enabling the inspection of hard-to-reach sections.
Collaboration with Teledyne will provide improvements in reliability and opportunities for global commercialisation of these capabilities on an inspection-class ROV.
Mike Read, president of Teledyne Marine, said: ‘We are pleased to have entered into this cooperation agreement with RPDC. It formalises our support of new technology and collaboration in the offshore oil industry with the belief that it will facilitate new and innovative solutions.’
