Surface Navy 2019: Federal shutdown creating delays for USCG ScanEagle integration

The integration of ScanEagle UAS onto the US Coast Guard (USCG) Legend-class National Security Cutter (NSC) fleet is being further delayed by the ongoing shutdown of the US Federal Government, following a contract award in mid-2018.

The initial contract provision in June 2018 saw required Insitu to provide small UAS ISR services onboard the entire NSC fleet, valued at approximately $117 million.

However, the award was subsequently protested on consecutive occasions in the second half of 2018 by programme competitors, although Insitu officials indicated to Shephard that the company was now free to pursue the integration of the UAS
