Subsea Technology & Rentals (STR) has added another Saab Seaeye Falcon ROV to its global rental fleet of inspection class vehicles, the company announced on 14 March.
The Falcon is an electric underwater ROV system with five powerful thrusters and an intelligent distributed control system arranged in a small, easily manhandled metre-long chassis. Its power and control make it highly manoeuvrable and able to remain stable in strong crosscurrents while undertaking precision tasks.
The Falcon’s advanced iCON intelligent control offers precise station-keeping to allow the operator to concentrate on the task at hand, while the iCON system architecture makes for easy role change and ready customisation.
According to STR, growing demand over the last 12 months for the Falcon from its clients in the oil and gas and renewable sectors has led the company to expand its rental portfolio, as its existing Falcons are currently on long term rental. Further future Falcon investments are planned.
Scott Johnstone, managing director, STR, said: ‘STR firmly believes that the investment of the new Saab Seaeye Falcon ROV system demonstrates our commitment to our clients and to improving market conditions. As an innovative company STR understands the importance of investing and delivering class-leading technology to give our clients the very best solutions for their operations.’
