SOFEX 2018: Machine gun robot first public sighting

The King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB) showcased the first prototype of its weaponised UGV at SOFEX 2018 in Amman.

Under development for around four months, the UGV is equipped with FN M240 7.62mm machine gun remote weapon station. This can be interchangeable with the FN Minimi 5.56mm squad automatic weapon, both manufactured by FN Herstal.

The two weapons are effective to a range of up to 800m and the total cartridge capacity is 200 rounds.

While the UGV is still under development some shooting trials have been carried out and testing is ongoing, an official at KADDB
