Singapore Airshow: Boosted performance for Global Hawk

Northrop Grumman announced completion of the MQ-4C Triton’s operational assessment during the Singapore Airshow, but the company also disclosed of a number of other developments.

One of these is the 'imminent' maiden flight of a Global Hawk fitted with the SYERS-2C imagery sensor developed by UTC. This will take place before the end of March, according to Mike Tarlton, Northrop Grumman’s Global Hawk UAS, director of OPS and program manager.

The SYERS-2A is already employed aboard the U-2 Dragon Lady surveillance platform and integration aboard the RQ-4B Global Hawk is now complete. Tarlton said SYERS-2 ‘is about risk reduction’ and
