​Singapore Airshow 2018: China promotes weaponised VTOL UAV

The China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation (CATIC) provided new details about its latest U8EW VTOL UAV at this week’s Singapore Airshow. The U8E was first promoted at the 2010 Singapore Airshow, but the U8EW is a reconnaissance strike variant with double the lift and range.

The U8EW is a 500kg-class UAV with a seesaw rotor and tail rotor. It can carry four (two pylons) air-to-ground missiles and other munitions.  The aircraft can also carry an EO and synthetic aperture radar payload.
