Rheinmetall Canada has confirmed it has conducted successful live firings from its weaponised 8x8 UGV.
Live firing tests were conducted in Canada in the fourth quarter 2017 using a .50 cal gun on board the Multimission Unmanned Ground Vehicle (MMUGV) solution, a company spokesperson told Shephard, adding that the 'results have been very good’.
Working to develop such unmanned technology is not without its restrictions and the spokesperson said that such a live firing would not have been possible anywhere in Rheinmetall’s home nation of Germany.
