Insitu’s ScanEagle UAV is set for further export success as the US Navy intends to award a sole source contract for up to five of the systems.

In a FMS notice published on 7 October the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) stated it intended to negotiate and award at sole source firm-fixed-price contract to the company.

When contacted NAVAIR was unable to comment on the nation which will receive the platfroms. Other details remain scarce.

Current export customers for the ScanEagle include the Philippine Air Force (PAF) which acquired six of the systems in 2017 under a $7.4 million contract.
