RSS

The US Office of Naval Research (ONR) is showing its prototype Large Displacement Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (LDUUV) for the first time at Sea-Air-Space 2015.

The LDUUV system is being developed to accelerate the development of long-endurance UUVs to allow the navy to gain persistent access to areas that cannot be reached using manned vehicles.

It is designed to act as a force multiplier and test new energy sources and methods of propulsion to enable more platform capability.

According to the ONR the LDUUV will demonstrate technology readiness level (TRL) 6 scalable air independent technologies for a 48inx48in cross section UUV
