SARA UAVs face the axe

Devaluation of the Argentine Peso appears to have halted plans by the Argentinean MoD to push ahead with its SARA unmanned vehicle development programme.

Furthermore, there is opposition within the military to the programme, which could lead to its cancellation.

A contract was signed in March 2015 between the MoD and state-owned company INVAP to conduct a national research project to bring Argentina up to date with UAV technological development.

The SARA project aims to build two different types of UAVs and develop the design of a new target drone.
