RT demonstrates SkyStar 110 system
RT Aerostat Systems has demonstrated its new SkyStar 110 micro-tactical aerostat system for the first time in US, the company announced on 7 February.
The SkyStar 110, a micro-balloon system, has been designed to provide field commanders with real-time ‘over the hill’ reconnaissance capability. The system is compact, robust and can be transported, assembled, launched and operated by two personnel in 15 minutes, for a 1,500ft surveillance range.
The system is controlled by the SkyStar 110 Handheld Personal Ground Control Station, a compact unit that can be worn over a protective vest or mounted on a tripod.
Alongside the live demonstration of the SkyStar 110 and the SkyStar 180, the company also launched a new ‘pay by the hour’ option, which allows clients to lease the systems on an hourly basis. The leasing includes operation of the system by the company.
Rami Shmueli, CEO, RT, said: ‘Based on an extensive market research that we have conducted, we believe that the SkyStar 110 micro-tactical aerostat is an ideal platform for the US market. We see great importance in the US market, and the need for RT's high-end aerostats is evident through the increase in our sales in this region.'
