Romania acquires Polish C-IED robots

The Romanian Air Force has taken delivery of an unspecified number of counterterrorism Gryf UGVs designed and manufactured by the Polish Lukasiewicz-PIAP Institute.

The deliveries took place in two batches, in late 2018 and again in April 2019.

Romanian UGVs will be used to detect, identify and neutralise explosive ordnance, protecting strategic assets and infrastructure located in the country and abroad.

It is likely that Polish counter terrorism UGVs will be used this summer in Mali, where a small contingent of the Romanian Armed Forces, comprising IAR 330L Puma SAR helicopters, will be sent to assist the UN’s Multidimensional Integrated
