QNA selected for CRS-I programme’s EMD phase
QinetiQ North America (QNA) has been selected as one of the two suppliers for the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the US Army’s Common Robotic System-Individual (CRS-I) programme, the company announced on 22 May.
The potential value of the total programme is $429 million over seven years for the delivery of more than 3,000 UGVs. The EMD phase of the CRS-I programme is expected to last for ten months with the final award to be announced in early 2019.
The back-packable CRS-I UGVs will be equipped with sensors and mission modules for dismounted forces to enhance mission capabilities. It will feature an interoperable, open architecture common platform to support a variety of missions to detect, identify and counter hazards.
Jeff Yorsz, president of QNA, said: ‘Providing robust, reliable, and exceptionally capable ground robots to support our warfighters has been a driving passion at QNA for decade snow. We are very pleased with being selected for the EMD phase of CRS-I and look forward to advancing our long robotic heritage with this noteworthy programme of record.’
