New RAF Protector RG Mk1 UAVs are to be tested at UK weapons ranges after deliveries begin in 2023.

While no detailed plans for the UK weapons tests have been released, written parliamentary correspondence on 22 June from Baroness Goldie, minister of state at the MoD, confirmed they are set to begin following FOC of the aircraft.

Due to be armed with MBDA Brimstone 2 air-to-surface missiles and Paveway IV laser-guided bombs, the MALE UAVs are succeeding older MQ-9A Reapers.

Weapons integration, test and evaluation activities will be undertaken in the US as part of development and pre-delivery plans.
