Łukasiewicz - PIAP Institute has completed delivery of 17 portable EOD/IED robots to the Polish Armed Forces.
Under the terms of a November 2018 contract from the Polish MoD Armament Inspectorate, worth PLN80.7 million ($21.8 million), PIAP is providing 35 portable patrol robots by the end of 2021, in addition to ammunition, missiles, consumables and a logistics and training package.
The first of these robots was handed over to the Polish Armed Forces in March 2020.
Each robot weighs 75kg and is controlled wirelessly. The robot is equipped with sensors for image and object recognition. Caterpillar tracks enable it to run on paved, dirt and off-road surfaces, as well as in urban areas at a maximum speed of 10km/h.
A recoilless pyrotechnic ejector enables the robot to neutralise explosives or hazardous materials at up to 30m range.
