Philippines acquires six ScanEagles

16th August 2017 - 10:22 GMT | by Beth Maundrill in London

Insitu is set to supply the Philippines with six ScanEagle UAS following a contract announcement on 15 August.

The US Department of Defence (DoD) awarded a $7.4 million contract to the unmanned systems manufacturer, the contracting activity is the US Naval Air Systems Command.

The Philippines received approval for additional ScanEagle in June after a follow-on contract was awarded by the Naval Air Systems command with a value of $13.5 million. This recent contract appears to be for around half of what was initially expected, which could have been up to 12 ScanEagle systems.

Work is to be carried out
