Paris Air Show 2013: Thales keeps on watching

As the British Army’s Watchkeeper programme creeps closer to completion, the manufacturing teams behind it remain committed to the cause and the certification process it is currently undergoing.

While 24 WK450 UAVs have been delivered to the UK MoD to date, a Military Aviation Authority (MAA) ruling on the certification of the platform is still pending, which is preventing the aircraft from entering service.

‘The certification process is absolutely key to the future of Watchkeeper and UAVs generally,’ Nick Miller, business director of ISTAR and UAVs at Thales UK, told Shephard during the Paris Air Show.
