One in a million

The Shadow has become the first UAS of its size to achieve one million flight hours, more than 85% of which have taken place during combat operations, according to Textron Systems Unmanned Systems.

First introduced in 1999 the Shadow tactical UAS has gone through a series of upgrade programmes, adding digital capabilities, improved engine and flight performance, installation of a network-based architecture compliant with STANAG requirements for interoperability, among others.

Operators include the US Army and Marine Corps, US Special Operations Command and the armed forces of Italy, Sweden and Australia.
