Qinetiq is in the midst of testing and developing a compact, lightweight UUV called Sea Scout MKII for the defence market.

Sea Scout has a reconfigurable payload capacity which allows it to perform a range of maritime missions from data gathering, ISR to sonar investigation.

In addition, the UUV has an open architecture, GPS navigation and has flexible battery options amongst other capabilities.

There is also the capacity to change the centre of gravity for the vehicle. On 19 February this year, the Sea Scout was tested in a pool and then moved to an ocean basin within the UK.
