Northrop Grumman to open UAS-focused facility
Northrop Grumman has leased the anchor position at the new Grand Sky Technology Park in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, for a UAS-focused facility, it announced on 16 April.
The company is identifying specialised opportunities for the Grand Sky facility, which is leased for research and development, flight training, operations and testing, light manufacturing, hangar activities, warehouse operations and assembly operations.
The lease permits Northrop Grumman to complete initial designs and plans for the facility on ten acres of the technology park, which covers a total of 217 acres on the Grand Forks Air Force Base. Northrop Grumman manufactures the RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance UAS that is flown out of the Grand Forks base.
Tom Vice, corporate vice president and president, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, said: 'Northrop Grumman remains committed to bringing innovative programmes in industry, education and research to the region.
'Northrop Grumman is proud of our strong relationship with the state of North Dakota and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial working relationship.'
