New SkyStar 330 aerostat launched
RT LTA Systems has expanded its SkyStar family of aerostats with the introduction of the new SkyStar 330 system. Like the rest of the family, the new system is designed for use in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and communications applications.
The new system replaces the former SkyStar 300 platform which has now reached the end of its service life after accruing more than half a million operational hours with customers in Israel and other countries since 2007.
The new SkyStar 330 has four optical fibre tether enabling extended communication bandwidth and range. The new system is also equipped with an upgraded navigation system with capabilities that include point on map ability as well as advanced controllers, allowing better control and management of missions and targets.
The system is highly mobile, with rapid deployment capabilities and smooth performance in extreme weather conditions.
The Skystar 330 system is already in operational use in Israel, and a further system has been sold in Europe
Rami Shmueli, CEO, RT LTA, said: ‘The Skystar 330 upgrades the capabilities of the first member in the SkyStar family – the SkyStar 300. With the new technology that is introduced into this system, we were able to deliver a high-end system for military and homeland security applications.
‘During the last two years, more and more customers discovered the benefits of using aerostats for intelligence and communications applications. According to the research market company MarketsandMarkets, the aerostat world market will reach to about $10 billion by 2020, but I believe that in an era of decreasing defence budgets worldwide, the cost-effective aerostat systems share can be even bigger.’
