Netherlands selects MQ-9 Reaper

The Dutch ministry of defence plans to purchase the MQ-9 Reaper as its future medium altitude long endurance (MALE) UAV, it has emerged.

After a previous project to procure a MALE UAV was cancelled in 2007, the Netherlands will now acquire a single MQ-9 system which will consist of four air vehicles. A formal contract will be signed in early 2015 and procurement will be conducted through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme.
