NAVAIR Cargo UAS participants confirmed

Bids have been received by the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) for its Cargo Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Services programme.

As expected, Boeing and Lockheed Martin’s joint venture with Kaman Aerospace Corporation have submitted proposals for the contract, which released its request for proposals (RfP) on 22 September.

Northrop Grumman had previously confirmed to Digital Battlespace that it would not be entering its Fire Scout UAS into the competition. Bids were due to be submitted by 21 October.

Worth an undisclosed sum, the contract aims to demonstrate logistical resupply capability for forward-deployed troops in Afghanistan next year. A ‘stateside’
