AUVSI 2013: MQ-8 tidies up APKWS integration
The US Navy’s MQ-8 Fire Scout is on the verge of concluding a weapons test programme with BAE Systems’ Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS), it has emerged.
According to official sources, a total of 11 out of 12 planned tests of the munition have been conducted to date at an undisclosed location.
Capt Patrick Smith, the US Navy’s Fire Scout PM, told a media briefing at the AUVSI Unmanned Systems exhibition that all of the engineering for integration has been completed, including a stores management system developed by General Electric, which is being integrated alongside the APKWS.
