Marine West 2019: USMC seeks SUAS expansion

The USMC is exploring the possible expansion of its fleet of its Group 1 Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS). The marines has three SUAS programmes of record, with those assets procured and managed by the navy and marine corps' Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA-263), located at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland.

The current Marine Corps Group 1 SUAS portfolio includes: RQ-20B Puma; RQ-11B Raven; and RQ-12A Wasp. The back-packable systems are used for local reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition.
