LIMA 2019: Malaysia expresses a liking for large UAVs

Malaysia issued a rather general RfI for a MALE UAV last December, and three OEMs from China, Turkey and the US exhibited their potential solutions at LIMA 2019. The cynical might question whether Malaysia is serious about obtaining such an unmanned capability, or whether it simply wanted to generate more interest at the country’s premier air and naval show.

In any case, several companies are certainly taking an expressed desire from the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) seriously, with responses from industry due last month.
