Kaman receives purchase orders for JPFs
Kaman's Aerospace segment has been awarded multiple commercial sale purchase orders for Joint Programmable Fuzes (JPF) worth $68 million, due to be delivered in 2015 and 2016.
The company has been the sole JPF provider for the US Air Force since 2002, and it also provides the JPF to 26 other nations.
The JPF allows the settings of a weapon to be programmed on wing in flight. It is used with several weapons, including general purpose bombs, and guided bombs that use JDAM or Paveway kits. It is also used on US fixed-wing combat aircraft and the MQ-9 UAV. Outside the US, it is used on aircraft such as the Mirage 3 and Gripen.
Greg Steiner, president, Kaman Aerospace Group, said: 'The reliability and functionality of the JPF cause it to remain in high demand with nations around the world. These orders solidify the programme for the balance of this year, and with a programme backlog that now exceeds $200 million, provide visibility well into 2017.'
