K-MAX conducts first collaborative CASEVAC mission

An unmanned variant of the Kaman Aerospace K-MAX cargo helicopter has demonstrated for the first time its ability to conduct a collaborative casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) mission alongside an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV).

A team made up of Lockheed Martin, Kaman Aerospace and autonomy experts Neya Systems carried out the air/ground demonstration on March 26, as part of ongoing research looking at expanding the role of the unmanned K-MAX platform in both military and civil roles.
