Iraq eyes possible Prion Mk3 purchase

The Iraqi Ministry of Defence is in discussions with UK-based UAV manufacturer UAVE for the purchase of at least a dozen Prion Mk3 platforms.

If purchased, the long range UAV platform would be used for surveillance and laser targeting, Shephard has learnt.

While the platform is not weaponised it is capable of long endurance flights in harsh environments making it suitable for surveillance and security applications.

The platform has fully autonomous take-off and landing abilities and if communications are lost mid-flight, the Prion is programmed to return and loiter or make an emergency autonomous landing.
