Indian Army seeks micro-UAVs

Responses from domestic and foreign vendors to an Indian Army RfI for micro-remotely piloted aircraft systems (Type B) will close on 26 June. The military is looking for approximately 150 systems.

The RfI document listed a number of criteria for the backpack-portable micro-UAV platform it is seeking. The ‘lightweight, aerial surveillance platform with day and night sensors [will] enhance the situational awareness of squads and troops involved in various special operations tasks’.

Its operational range is to be up to 5km with an endurance of at least 60 minutes, and it will weigh less than 6kg. It will be launched
