Improper use of UAS on the rise

The FAA recorded 114 sightings, close approaches near civil aircraft and improper use of small UAS in the first three weeks of August.

In a list issued on 21 August, a total of 721 incidents were recorded between 1 January and 20 August.

Each listing contains detailed information such as the height at which it occurred, the distance the UAS was from manned aviation if applicable, and locations the craft were flying near such as sports stadia, airports and boat races.

Among the incidents recorded was one approach of a suspected UAS near an Air Wisconsin flight out of Philadelphia
