IDEX 2015: Aerosonde wins oil and gas work

Textron Systems has revealed that it has at least two customers in the Middle East for its Aerosonde M4.7 UAS, which is being used in the oil and gas industry to provide surveillance of infrastructure.

Last year the company said it was looking for new markets for the aircraft as opportunities in Afghanistan for military use were winding down as international forces withdrew. 

Before that, however, the company was able to demonstrate the capability of an improved Lycoming 4hp engine (3kW), following overhauls designed to address reliability problems.
