IAA seek fines for unregulated drone use

The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) is working with its government to introduce regulations which would allow it to fine drone operators as a final measure to encourage users to operate within regulations introduced twelve months ago.

The IAA, responding to an expected surge in operators in the lead up to Christmas 2015, introduced a range of regulations and controls to encourage safe operation. These included getting operators to register vehicle heavier than 1kg for a minimal fee and operate only within 300m of controller, at an altitude of less than 120m, more than 5km from airports or aerodromes and further
