Hybrid UAV spotted on Chinese warship
On 26 February, an image emerged of a UAV taking off from the stern flight deck of a People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Type 052C destroyer during a training exercise. The UAV was later identified as an SD-40 Sea Cavalry.
The electricity/petrol-powered UAV, developed and built by Xiamen Han Feiying Aviation (or Xiamen Han’s Eagle Aviation Technology Company), is capable of vertical take-offs and landings, as well as flying as a regular fixed-wing aircraft in horizontal flight.
The UAV was spotted aboard the Luyang II-class destroyer Lanzhou, which was one of several warships belonging to the Southern Theatre
