German Heron TP preparations continue in Israel

German UAS operators will soon start to train with a specially adapted version of the Israeli-made Heron TP.

The fleet of Heron TP MALE UAVs that Germany is leasing from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will be adapted to meet European aviation regulations.

Moshe Levy, executive VP and GM of the Military Aircraft Group in IAI, told Shephard that ‘the main changes will be in the UAV’s avionic systems’. However, further information on the specific alterations was unavailable.

The UAVs are already undergoing military certification with the German Armed Forces to meet STANAG 4671 requirements.
