Four Phoenix 30 UAS delivered to Bulgaria
Four UAV Solutions Phoenix 30 quad rotor UAS have been delivered to the Bulgarian armed forces as part of a US foreign military sale agreement. UAV Solutions announced the deliveries on 2 December.
The US Army released a request for information (RfI) seeking a 10lb VTOL solution for Bulgaria in July. The RfI requirements included all-weather operation, flight control interface with GPS camera targeting and real-time digital video, encrypted data network, and operational flight control hardware and software that are capable of supporting four UAVs flying missions concurrently. Two payloads - 10x optical zoom payload camera and thermal imaging payload – were also required.
The UAV Solutions Phoenix 30 UAS is 20in x 20in, weighs approximately 10lbs and carries a maximum two-pound payload. The UAS requires no assembly and takes only a few minutes to deploy. Endurance is 25 to 30 minutes depending on mission profile.
Bill Davidson, CEO and chief engineer, UAV Solutions, said: ‘The Phoenix 30 is a competent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform that will assist the Bulgarian national military forces with their operations.’
Under the terms of the contract, UAV Solutions will conduct equipment training in mid-2015.
