FIDAE: ScanEagle offered to Brazil

The Insitu ScanEagle UAV completed a maritime demonstration with the Brazilian Navy on 17 February, Shephard has learned.

Speaking at the FIDAE exhibition in Santiago, Juan Gomez, the director of international business development at Insitu, told Shephard that a Brazilian Navy competition is expected with a request for proposal due at the end of the year or in early 2015.

Gomez said that during the maritime demonstration, the ScanEagle completed three days of deployment, including 20 hours of flying to test the launch and recovery in ‘high rolling seas at Beaufort Scale 5 with 15ft waves’ and to prove the
