Farnborough 2012: Lockheed SAR payload integrated on undisclosed UAV

Lockheed Martin's Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar System (ASARS-3) will be integrated on board an undisclosed UAV by the start of 2013, Shephard has been informed.

According to company sources, the 1.4kw system will be 'fully developed' by the end of this year with flight testing scheduled to take place at an undisclosed location in the US shortly after the New Year.

However, sources were unable to confirm which UAV will be involved although officials conceded that it would be a 'small air vehicle' or Class IV UAS such as Predator or Reaper.
