Farnborough 12: MBDA looks to UAV future

MBDA has launched the CVS301 Vigilus concept for the weaponisation of MALE UAVS.

Speaking at a media briefing at the Farnborough International Airshow, Chris Allard, principle engineer for advanced technologies at the company, said the system is only at concept level, but it is looking at two different missiles for the system, the 7kg Gladius and the 100kg Caelus.

'We've looked at technology from the past 20 years and made assumptions for the future,' Allard explained. 'We've tried to design the system with the flexibility for a combination of missiles. We could equip the launcher with all Caelus or Gladius
